London Fashion Week: Day 1

Today marks the start of this season's London Fashion Week. I was lucky enough to have a ticket to Paul Costelloe's show which kicked off my favourite time in the city.

A very wearable collection featuring textures and prints. Jacquard, tartan, tweed, checks and panelling all played part in the collection along with mini lengths and flicked out, flirty skirts. LOVED the red, crimped bobs worn by the models.

Janice Dickinson was in the front row...

A small talk from the new embassador of The British Fashion Council- Samantha Cameron was held in the BFC tent after the show.

Today's look...

Where's it from?

Blouse: Vintage, Dress: Topshop, Boots: Aldo, Bag and Lipstick: Chanel

Some looks from the cobbles...

The lovely David of The Nyanzi Report, sporting his trademark sunglasses and bow tie...

More to follow tomorrow.

LFW Sept 10: The trends...

So, London Fashion Week is over for another season and I can honestly say that this week has been my best yet. Shows, shots and self promotion have been my main points of call this week and I have met some amazing people along the way (more on them later).

First up on the list of things to fill you in on are the emerging street trends which have been hard to ignore this week.
GROWN-UP GRUNGE
90s grunge has been a huge look on the cobbles of Somerset House this season but forget laddered tights and dirty finger nails, this look is clean, sharp and chic. Tailoring is thrown in and layered with long length knitwear. Maxi lengths are key and of course, round sunglasses.

CHECK IT

Tartan and check is yet another look of the season. Forget check shirts, (please- this is one trend we really all must let go of now) and swap it for a tartan or check maxi. Yes checked shirt fans, (I know there are still thousands of you out there, although there really shouldn't be) you can still channel that love for the print but make like a fashion week pro and wear it on a maxi instead.
