The Finishing Touches

Spring has sprung! Cue a mass wardrobe panic...

Yes that’s right, after months and months of baggy jumpers and jeans I’m starting to get excited about fresh, new pieces for spring.

We all know the UK isn’t famed for it’s reliable weather so I’m not reaching for the shorts and sandals just yet, but, I am however cooing over new accessories at Harrods for those ‘finishing touches’. No look is complete without good accessories and often it’s the accessory that makes an outfit so with this in mind, today I am sharing a little selection from my spring wish list from Harrods.com...

I (like most) seem to carry my entire life in my handbag. Whether it’s by day or night, I unequivocally will always be carrying a bag, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney always strike the perfect balance between femininity and striking design that I long for.

I'm a sucker for statement jewellery and this season is no different. Chunky rings, wrist and neck wear in gold is the ultimate against a white t-shirt.

As for watches, for me Michael Kors is still the master and I'm still loving the Tortoiseshell Bracelet Watch that The Boy bought me for my birthday!

Alexander McQueen AW12 Campaign

Greetings readers!

How are we all? Apologies for my lack of posting, I have been off sunning myself in the Balearic isle of Mallorca. I had big intentions of writing and scheduling posts to go live while I was away but as usual, my best laid plans never seem to happen what with working and packing etc I just didn't get round to it (sorry about that).

I will be sharing the visual diary from my trip later this week but as I trawled through my emails this morning I came across the rather lovely Alexander McQueen AW12 campaign shots and simply had to share.

I love the origami, futuristic vibe and I love that red/pink ruffle dress.

Drama Queen

I do love a bit of drama, specifically when it comes to fashion. Now the blogger bombardment of runway shots has calmed down since fashion week I thought I'd share some of my dream pieces that came down the runways for AW12.

A Right Royal To-Do...

Just in case you've been hiding under a rock all weekend, the royal wedding finally happened on Friday and the world waited with baited breath as the regular girl from the country village got married to her handsome (well sort of) Prince.

For those of you that don't know, I have been somewhat against this hoo-haa due to our country's finances being what can only be described as 'down the toilet' and therefore government cuts are being made in almost everything yet our government have managed to scrape together a few million to put towards this fine affair.

Anyhow, my little rant is over...back to the blog post. Being a little anti-wedding, I was not really interested in watching it until street parties and such started popping up over our fine capital, so I decided I would go along - mainly for the joy of drinking on a school day without judgement.

What happened next completely threw me. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE!

The tradition, the patriotism and the sheer British-ness that came from this day even got me a little tearful.

She looked beautiful and surprised us in Sarah Burton for McQueen. Although a strong contender for the nuptial cloak I didn't think she had it in her and believed she would go for Temperley- I am however ecstatic that she went with McQueen (although the next question is who will the other Kate (Moss) wear now for her big day this year?). She oozed elegance whilst channelling a somewhat Grace Kelly look for her big day.

Well done Kate- the perfect choice.

I couldn't write about the wedding day without giving a little shout out to old Queenie herself who looked fresh for spring in primrose yellow.

Anyone else think that Charlie Le Mindu's AW11 collection has a little reminiscent undertone of the Royal Cavalry Guards helmets?
Street parties were in abundance...

What a thoroughly British and enjoyable day. Sorry for the somewhat obvious post today dear readers but this is one London girl who is proud to be British (well at least until my cynicism kicks in again).

A recap of 2010...

So 2010 has almost drawn to a close ( I can't quite believe that another year has gone by and I am getting older and older) and whilst fretting about my outfit for tomorrow night (still not sure what I shall wear yet), panicking about party plans (still not confirmed everything yet) and hap-hazardly thinking about resolutions (still working on those) I have taken time out from all of the above to have a little reminisce of 2010.

Here goes...
JANUARY
January saw the country grind to a halt when we received a large amount of unexpected snow...

I also discovered the work of artist Alex Cave and managed to pin him down for an interview...

FEBRUARY
February brought fashion week once again and I hit the Elle Style Awards...

We also lost the truly wonderful Alexander McQueen...

MARCH

I was lucky enough to be photographed for Company magazine and penned a few words on the blogging world...

APRIL

April saw trendies going mental and rioting at the American Apparel sample sale...

MAY

I went elephant hunting in May...

JUNE
June saw my annual pilgrimage to Glastonbury. Read some highlights here, here and here...

JULY

The iTunes festival hit The Roundhouse, Camden for the entirety of July. I was lucky enough to get tickets to see The XX, Faithless and Underworld (thanks James)...

AUGUST
August saw two wonderful friends tie the knot, congratulations to Nick and Becca (check out Becca's immense heels)...

It also saw me make a huge life change, after three years of working in PR and marketing at a highstreet giant I took the plunge and went freelance. This was a huge decision and a very difficult one, although so far so good and I have not looked back.
SEPTEMBER
I was shortlisted for the Next Generation, street style blogger competition on Vogue.com...

And of course, I attended fashion week. Read my coverage here, here, and here...

OCTOBER
October was a month for events, a memorable was the Matthew Williamson book launch at Somerset House...

NOVEMBER
The end of the year saw me cementing new loves, November is when my love affair with Mary Katrantzou began...

DECEMBER

As you would expect December has brought the usual festivities, Christmas shopping, sale shopping, gin & tonic, Christmas get togethers and food. It will also see a carefully thought out NYE outfit (post to come in 2011- if I ever figure out what to wear).
I will take this moment to wish you all a Happy new Year readers, thank you for reading, commenting, returning and tweeting.
See you next year!

RIP Mr McQueen...

The tragic news of designer Alexander McQueen's death has rocked the fashion world this week. Known as the 'bad boy of fashion' McQueen was found dead in his London home on Thursday morning after taking his own life. McQueen's designs knew no bounds and every collection topped the last. He was original, innovative and an inspiration.

The world has lost a true creative genius...
