Temperley SS13

Not wanting to regurgitate the same old content as everyone else during fashion week, I sat back on sharing my photos from the Temperley SS13 show in the vain hope that the burnings on your retinas of these pieces had faded away a little and that they might evoke the happiness and joy that they initially brought upon first viewing.

The blogging world was a little tough around fashion week this season. Many bloggers (big ones at that) have lost their passion for it a little and who's to blame them? PR tickets seemed to be fewer and fewer for the main attendees from the blogging circles and the same old 'show me your stats' situation was happening at the blogger desk at Somerset House.

With the blogosphere being full of the same images and the same shows I attended (for work and pleasure) I felt it didn't really do this particular show (my favourite of the season) any justice so I waited.

So here we are, Temperley SS13 in all it's glory. We were taken back to the French Riviera in the late 40s / early 50s with super-feminine nipped in waists, calf length full skirts and wrist-grazing girlie gloves all in a palette of powdery blues, bold reds and black on a base of crisp, clean whites - delicious.

The vibe of the show was somewhat reminiscent of Christian Dior's 'New Look' which was shown in 1947 with the small waists, full hips and those hats and the kudos that Temperley's collection has received only proves that classic style always wins.

Temperley always seem to hit the nail on the head when it comes to mixing classic and contemporary style but this season has blown me away even more than usual. BRAVO!

Did You Arrive On A Unicorn?

I LOVED wearing this dress. It's a rare occasion that I get dressed up and it's even rarer that I go girlie, but a summer wedding was the perfect excuse to get out of my comfort zone (of black clothing and casual separates) and dress like I was in a fairytale.

The dress is by Tibi and I was lucky enough to wear it courtesy of designer dress hire site (a girl's best friend)...Wish Want Wear.

Many thanks to Sarah Leigh for the photos.

LFW: Day 3: Backstage At Charlie Le Mindu

I was lucky enough to shoot backstage at the On | Off venue during preparations for the hugely anticipated, Charlie Le Mindu show on day three of London Fashion Week. We had ten minutes to get our shots and go, it was quite a tense atmosphere but in no way difficult, kind of the calm before the storm.

The show was wild. The entrance and finale were walked to the solitary noise of pig slaughter, while the rest of the soundtrack had a loud and intrusive heavy baseline which only added to the drama and impact of the show.

Not for the faint hearted, the show (along with the pig slaughter soundtrack) included nudity, hair, blood and gas masks. This was mixed up with pretty lace, shaggy fur trims, transparent plastic, blonde hair and fringing which added a bit of a girlie vibe to the anarchy.

The first look kicked of the shock factor with a nude model soaked in blood (a little like Stephen King's Carrie).

There will be people that don't understand or appreciate this show but if fashion runs through your blood you will love it as much as I do.

What a visionary.

LFW: Day 2: Louise Amstrup

The Louise Amstrup show kicked off Saturday morning with a bang. I LOVED it. Known for her relaxed tailoring the collection showed her skills in this area but structure, panelling and directional black PVC was added which gave the collection a chic-goth vibe.

Geometric shapes, splashes of bold yellow and digital prints featured in the predominantly grey and black collection.

Directional yet very wearable = on the wish list.

London Fashion Week: Day 2: The Looks

Day two of fashion week saw us enduring the awful rain - rain and fashion week just don't mix, well done to whoever invented the umbrella, had it not been for you I would not have made day two.

My beautiful friend Sarah of Sarah-Leigh Style Files was up in the big smoke for the blessed occasion so we spent the day together and oh how we laughed (very fashionably of course).
Saturday saw my favourite coat of the moment, along with soft tailoring mixed with layered jersey...

Where's it from?

Coat: vintage, Shirt: Topshop, Cycling Shorts: home made, Wedges: Aldo, Broach: vintage

Sarah opted for chic shapes in the form of flares (she works them like no other) and a swing coat topped off with a black turban - she must have seen the weather forecast...

Glasto 2010: The Highlights: Pet Shop Boys

To continue with the running theme of my highlights from Glastonbury, I will today speak of one hell of a Saturday night - Pet Shop Boys. The group was divided on this one with some going to see Muse, some to see George Clinton with Parliament/Funkadelic and the rest to Pet Shop Boys (this is common at Glasto, too many amazing acts, not enough time).

The set was packed with all the oldies which gave us the chance to have a drunken sing-song. Incredible lighting and visuals along with outrageous costumes and dancers proved that the boys have still got it along with proving that they were the perfect choice for a Saturday night headliner. I've always respected their music but after that set I am a fully-fledged fan...a true Glastonbury moment and so much fun.

I'll leave you with their encore (and my favourite track), West End Girls...
